Virtual Beer Tasting with Brouwerij St. Bernardus
Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Marco Passarella, the Global Sales and Marketing Manager for St. Bernardus in Watou, Belgium, joined us for a cross-continental virtual beer tasting and shared stories about the history of the brewery, Belgian brewing, and their flagship beers.
Wit, 5.5%. A traditional unfiltered Belgian white beer, Wit was developed in collaboration with Pierre Celis, the legendary master brewer who founded the Hoegaarden brewery.
Tripel, 8%. St. Bernardus Tripel is a traditional abbey beer that follows the classic tripel style. Slightly sweet aroma with flowery, fruity, hoppy notes.
Abt 12, Quadrupel, 10%. St. Bernardus' flagship beer, Abt 12 is widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world. There's even a whole holiday for it! It is brewed in the classic Quadrupel style and adheres to the original 1946 recipe.
If you'd like to taste along as you watch, pick up St. Bernardus Wit, Tripel, and Abt 12 at your local Craft Beer Cellar or independent beer shop!
As her love for beer grew from a hobby to a profession, Mary has always felt strongly about community-building in craft beer: welcoming people from all backgrounds to the fold, helping everyone find a craft beer they love, and educating all types from craft beer novices to nerds (but she has a particular love for the novices).
In addition to her work in craft beer, Mary is also an accomplished operatic soprano. She has worked professionally as a performer, administrator, and educator in the creative arts for over 15 years.
Her first beer love: Edmund Fitzgerald Porter from Great Lakes Brewing in Cleveland, OH.
